We’re excited to offer three days of conference sessions and events this year! Thursday has some special pre-conference sessions on things like cheese-making and beekeeping. Friday and Saturday are full of innovative, exciting workshops on a variety of topics. Our special guest, West Virginia farmer Calvin Riggleman, will join us Friday afternoon to share his experience as part of the documentary film “Farmers for America,” which will be followed by a Q&A session and a screening of the film.
Special Teacher Training: Also, on Saturday, we’ll be holding a special training for teachers on the internationally known youth agriculture curriculum Junior Master Gardener. JMG is a research-based curriculum focused on nature, nutrition and the science of school gardens. Integrating easily with Next Generation Science Standards, it is proven project-based and experiential learning. In the training you’ll learn about the curriculum and how to utilize it. In Saturday afternoon conference sessions, the youth track will focus on nutrition and allergies in the garden and the A to Z of school gardening programs. To Sign Up: Teachers interested in attending the JMG training should contact WVSU Extension Agent Tabitha Surface via email or at (304) 543-7432 to finalize and discuss your JMG training attendance. You will register to attend the conference on Saturday at the one-day rate, which includes the training, lunch and afternoon sessions of choice. A limited number of scholarships are available for teachers to attend the JMG training, so contact Tabitha today!
